Season 2, Episode 3: The Woman on the Beach
Onto episode #3 of Magnum's sophomore season, "The Woman On
The Beach". This week's episode features a woman researching a book about
her socialite aunt who died in 1945 and comes to believe she was murdered by a
now powerful Hawaii shipping magnate(The role is played by actress Judith Chapman who guest starred just five episodes ago in "The Black Orchid"). She dresses like the ghost of her aunt to
drum up publicity for her aunt's case. Magnum and Rick get pulled into an
investigation.
Ultimately, Magnum snoops around the deceased aunt's estate and
finds her buried body. The now 65-year old shipping magnate gets wind of it and
tries to kill the dead woman's niece. Magnum and Rick get to them just in time.
Rick catches a bullet in the shoulder from the bad guy, but Magnum fires back,
killing the old man, and resolving order.
Earlier in the show, while snooping around, Magnum was hit in
the groin and then the head with a shovel, knocking him unconscious for several
minutes. This marks the third episode in a row where Magnum's been concussed.
Awkward Side Note: At the beginning of the show, Magnum announced
to T.C. and to Rick that he had tickets to the "Red Light" show, the
one that "keeps getting shut down by vice every couple of
months"...Not very wholesome, Thomas.
Higgins racist side note: Higgins was helping to plan a
performance of Romeo and Juliet on the island, but he quits when the show's
organizers decide to cast Samoans in the titular roles...
